Magic
02:38
|
|||
That old devil arithmetic
It's conquered
And it's our common belief
That math should be abolished
That old nemesis science
It's done for
And in the dead of the night
We plot and we scheme
For it to be defeated
The world should run on magic
That old rogue that makes me run
I'd rather roam through chapters
Alone, with my Snitch book lamp
I admit my vivid imagination
Explores the dense woods and forests
Of bleak possibilities
I wish the world breathed life in magic
The world should run on magic
Logarithms
Probability
Periodic tables
Calculus
Permutation
Hemispheres
Decomposition
Flagellum
Kinesis
Metric System
Fermentation
Magnetics
Hydrocarbon
I'M SO SICK OF MATHS AND SCIENCE
The world should run on magic

Birds

I went to the park the day before autumn let leaves fall
And we were holding hands through mittens
When I heard the windy forest roar
I heard an acorn on the windowsill
Is sure to keep the lightning away
And when you shake the acorn from the tree
love will fall upon you gently
oh
Danger flies on the wings of a sparrow
But when you look over oceans
Can you see the trouble start
Catch a springtime robin's luck
Before the sky engulfs her again
Shake the owl's daytime curse
And love will fall upon you gently
oh
Summer and it's brothers
They argue the whole year through
And I sleepwalk through these seasons
Inevitable loop
oh

Lily's Eyes
03:18
|
|||
When you're turning seventeen
You're becoming a man
Back to that house
That's not a home
The family that you can't stand
(You cannot stand them)
You lost a man
You loved him so
His beard down to the floor
I know in time you'll let him go
But right now
You just can't take no more
(You miss your professor)
Because you're marked as evil's enemy
And your soul is whole eternally
And your heart is what can keep the dark away
And keep evil enemies at bay
Now if you had a cause to care
About one girl out of all
Why not the one with firey hair
Neville took to the Yule Ball
You know you love her
That's why you saved her
When wedding bells ring strong and true
For family, friends to wed
You know raw steak can't separate
It brings your hearts close instead
(Bill is not a werewolf we said)
Because you're marked as evil's enemy
And your soul is whole eternally
And your heart is what can keep the dark away
And Voldemort's gonna pay
Now if you go to Godrics town as JK prophesized
Back to the house your father fell
You watched through Lily's Eyes
The memories
And the soundbites
Of the dreams
And the dementors
Cannot even begin to recognize
THE PAIN YOU FEEL INSIDE
When you enter
Because you're marked as evil's enemy
And your soul is whole eternally
And your heart is what can keep the dark away
Because you're marked as evil's enemy
And your soul is whole eternally
And your heart is what can keep the dark away
Cause Harry Potter's here
To save the day

Skylark
03:42
|
|||
I'm still creepin' round
The sleepin' shapes
Waiting 'til day breaks
And until now the ground
Has found a way
To keep the lamp posts bound
Down from the light night air
Who'll coax them upward
And like a school of jellyfish
A thousand lanterns sway and bounce
Into a navy night
And that's when the stars begin to fight
A balloon dips low
When there's no one below
Standing on their toes
To grab it down
And the aero-planes
Suspend themselves
From a ceiling sky
Around the world
In just a night
And like a fleet of submarines
A thousand autumn leaves
Carve their trail
Into the navy night
As they take flight
And there's just no way
I'm staying here
While everybody leaves
To spend their time
On people who aren't me
(The seeds are sown
You're on your own
Now it's too late)
And I'm just so sick
Of sitting tight
At such a terrifying height
While down below
They tell me to calm down
Then they look away
(Keep yourself warm
You're in the storm
The sea won't change)
Well I've never felt so calm
And now I'm still creepin'
Round the sleepin' shapes

Hornets

She likes books about wizards
I like cold, winter blizzards
Sometimes we'll sit
And watch Star Wars
In deck chairs
With friends there
Tree climbing expeditions
Bee attack premonitions (hornets)
She'll bake friendship
Into small cakes
Now!
You wait
Peering through ancient pines
Seated below the salt mines
Pick the wildest vines
Be on time
The sun dies
Ice cream cones die on hot hands
Crickets divulge their secret plans
Forts rise up from sand
We're busking outside her small cafe
While she toils
A waitress by day
For minimum wage
Violin bows dance in time
I can't play so I just mime
It's not a crime
It's your bedtime
So say goodnight
A lullaby to help us sleep at night
Peering through ancient pines
Seated below the salt mines
Pick the wildest vines
It's your bedtime
So say goodnight

Place your hand in mine
It need not hold so tight
Be careful
For in it's terrible lines
It holds the future
Of our lives
And it's cracks run deep
They have run rivers before
Do you remember
When they carved out
Their sorrow
From watching you go home
But I have squeezed those rivers dry
Until just the beds remain
Where I can't sleep
For this fear of mine
That these lines are not in line
With yours
So when our palms meet
It feels like symmetry
So we make all the brooks unite
Til our hands hold the ocean
With species undiscovered
Asleep beneath the surface
And tonight seemed to be
The parting of the red seas
And we were just two waves of water
Desperate to become one
But parted seas can be so rough
With wrecking boats
And drowning souls
And I feel this life
Is hard enough
Without being without
Your other half
And I realise that quite shortly
We'll be wish-washing shores together again
But until then I'll be waiting
For the feeling of your fingers in mine
As they intertwine
When our palms meet
It feels like symmetry
Oh
But parted seas can be so rough
With wrecking boats
And drowning souls
And I feel this life
Is hard enough
Without being without
Your other half

Four Eyed Bird Watcher
03:38
|
|||
We creep deep under the trees
So that the bees can't see
Just what we're doing here
We put lenses to our eyes
And then we aim them high
To the sky
At the height of our journey
We allocate duties
You count the canaries
While I pen parakeets
We lose sight when they rise
Fly too high
He's a quiet four-eyed-bird-watcher
Who has never been in love
All this time he hides
And he observes
The love-birds
And the doves
Tell me
What's so different
Between him and I
We both refuse to notice
When the day has turned to night
Afraid to lose each other's hands
While running in the rain
For our lives
He's a quiet four-eyed-bird-watcher
Who has never been in love
All this time he hides
And he observes
The love-birds
And the doves
I watch the birds
Who cannot fly
Weighted to the ground
A carved out robin
Flits around my neck
Weighing me down
(We creep deep under the trees
So that the bees can't see
Just what we're doing here
We put lenses to our eyes
And then we aim them high
To the sky)
(Tell me
What's so different
Between him and I
We both refuse to notice
When the day has turned to night
Afraid to lose each other's hands
While running in the rain
For our lives)

Friends In Cold Weather
04:38
|
|||
When dark comes near
It presses up on all the windows
Making all the surfaces feel cold
It lays a blanket over all
The neighbours in the neighbourhood
It keeps itself in shape
It shapes the snow
So we're barricading all the doors
We nap upon the heated floors
Nothing comes between us but warm air
And as we're drifting into dreams
The cold is seeping through the seams
Of the quilted quilt we have to share
And we dream
Of the rivers and streams
That we've sailed
With a crew of three
And we soar
Over valleys and moors
That have never been seen before
'Cept for us
When dark comes near
It presses up on all the windows
Making all the surfaces feel cold
It lays a blanket over all
The neighbours in the neighbourhood
It keeps itself in shape
It shapes the snow
So we swallow tea to keep us warm
And then watch as the tea leaves form
A symbol meaning we'll be friends for good
Outside the trees barenaked branches
Flit about in fretting dances
In unison across the neighbourhood
And we dream
Of the rivers and streams
That we've sailed
With a crew of three
And we soar
Over valleys and moors
That have never been seen before

Ducks In The Park
03:24
|
|||
The forest it stood
Around us like friends
Or a fortress where mottled light
Escaped to meet the ground below us
We were looking at it
More than we were one another
But the words I heard
They talked with mine
I used to be so shy
Hiding under the roof
Of a little tent of quiet
Til we were alone in the park
I imagine walking with you
To feed the ducks in the park
In the morning I pitch my tent
Under an apple pie sky
I walk around
You are beside me
I love bookstores
And your second-hand clothes
There was laughter in the sunshine
And we pushed our bikes
Through a forest
Leaving animals in stitches
All day long
We wound alongside bookshelves
Intwined with honeysuckle
Look out!
But of course
Surrounded by fallen books
And buttercups
I imagine walking with you
To feed the ducks in the park
Eavesdropping on all the embroidery
Of sounds weaving together
The rhythm and blues
Of the beautiful bluebells
You are beside me
You are beside me
We met under the stars
With a torch and a book of maps
We navigated through
Wild paths and sleepy lanes
We climbed into the treehouse
As night fell
The stars had waited for a witness
It was us
And as we slept
They danced.

Patches
03:44
|
|||
We're just like one another
Thinking more than ought
About people who claim
To not care what we thought
We'll form congregations in circles
Declare our love for what we know
And we're just the same
When we're together
And less the same alone
But we sank into our rituals
And sewed ourselves in prose
We sat in outside our cardboards
Leaving only once it snowed
When nothing grows
We're just like one another
Thinking more than we ought
About all the words we threw away
And no one caught
Knitting secrets into sweaters
To keep our shaky conscience warm
And it's just a shame
When we're together
I still feel so alone
But we put away our summer clothes
And drew the curtains closed
We sat inside our cupboards
Shrouded in our winter coats
Where no one knows
But everyone loves a mystery
That can't be solved
And only souls with gaping holes
Don't need the seasons to show
The world does change
And rearrange
But we're just so sick of summer
Wanting warmth from someone else
But there's just no way to insist
Upon the weather turning cold
But we put away our summer clothes
And drew the curtains closed
We sat inside our cupboards
Shrouded in our winter coats
Where no one knows
